THE NEEDS OF OUR CITY

A WORD FROM THE BOISBRIAND MAYORAL CANDIDATE

Dear fellow citizens of Boisbriand,

I am very pleased to introduce our program based on your opinions.
Throughout our door to door encounters and by means of the on-line survey named “Orange Boisbriand”, we have gathered together your vision of a better city. We listened to what you said: so this program clearly represents the priorities we share. It reveals an important change in the management of our city: true democracy, administrative rigour, and open communication are the cornerstones.

Let us build this new Boisbriand together!

Finances

Realism, professionalism, and vision

  • Take control of the debt
  • Establish administrative rigour and better cost controls
  • Effect an economic revival of the Grande-Côte/Grande-Allée sector
  • Develop and carry out a strategic plan for the social, urban, and economic development of our city.

Transparency

Decisions and actions in the interest of the population

  • Improve rendering of accounts in the general administration
  • Establish a process to avoid fraudulent agreements between and within suppliers of the city
  • Publish and apply a code of ethics to ensure integrity
  • Make the rules and specifications of calls for offer easily accessible

Communication

Better action through consultation

  • Hold true consultations for  important issues of the city council
  • Make available all information concerning the decisions and actions of the city council
  • Establish a one-stop access for municipal services
  • Create an automated communication system to inform the citizens in case of emergence

Citizens

People,  the heart of the city
  • Improve public transport in Boisbriand
  • Provide the Activities Card at no charge
  • Stop the exodus of our older population by offering access to different types of housing within the Boisbriand territory
  • Create a youth committee
  • Develop a monthly program of cultural activities adapted to our youth
  • Create a program to help families access home ownership

Security

Quality of life and peace of mind
  • Control and reduce speeding by all means, particularly in residential areas
  • Increase the number of police patrols, especially in the evening, for the safety of the citizens
  • In collaboration with the fire department, take all possible measures to increase fire protection

Environment and sustainable development

An always greener Boisbriand 
  • Plant more trees
  • Offer ecological workshops (composting, recovery of rainwater, and drinking-water conservation)
  • Establish a permanent form of 3-way refuse collection (composting)
  • Engage in new energy technologies  (vehicle, bi-energy, and lighting)
  • Resolve the recurrent problems of the water table
  • Install sound or vegetation screens in some areas of Boisbriand 
  • Beautify the entrances to our city

Infrastucture

Plan and streamline in function of the needs of the population
  • Modernize and enlarge the skate park
  • Level the sports fields
  • Repair the public arena and decide what to do with rink # 1
  • Install a synthetic sport surface
  • Install exercise stations for our seniors
  • Improve the winter sports installations (skating rinks, slides, paths)
  • Finalize and secure the cycling network (Grande-Côte, Domaine Vert)
  • Build an auditorium
  • Acquire the heritage house of Abraham-Dubois
  • Publish and apply the road repair plans
  • Improve lighting on various streets
  • Ensure the repairs on Côte Sud
  • Repair and enlarge Grande-Côte
